What to Tell Your Child When You Are Unwell

A child who is told nothing makes up their own explanation, and in it they are often to blame.

A two-minute read, three things to try, for ages 5 to 16.

Where to start

  • Decide before you begin what you’ll say and what you won’t.
  • Tell your child it isn’t their fault, and it isn’t their job to make you better.
  • Name one other adult your child can talk to as well.

The rest of the tip, and why it works, is in the library.
