When the Placement Ends

A placement ending is a real loss for carer and child, and it doesn’t always end the relationship.

A two-minute read, three things to try.

Where to start

  • Tell the child clearly, and in advance, what is happening and when.
  • Mark the move with a small ritual the child has chosen.
  • If contact is possible, ask the placement worker what kind is appropriate.

The rest of the tip, and why it works, is in the library.
